All Night Long is a hit single by the American singer-songwriter Lionel Ritchie. It first appeared on his second solo album, Can’t Slow Down. It combines Ritchie’s soulful Commodores style with Caribbean rhythms. This new pop-inspired approach proved popular and the single reached number one on three billboard charts and number two in the UK. The song lyrics were written primarily in English but Ritchie has admitted in at least one press interview that “African” lyrics in the song (some of which are presented here by the band) were, in fact, made-up nonsense of his own invention.
