  6. In Gardens of Peace - Score & Parts

    Composed to commemorate the life Henry Nichols, killed in the Battle of the Somme in 1917, the music has a peaceful tranquillity, but also a deep sense of tragedy and loss. It ends positively, with the wish that hope can come from desperation. Recorded by Glyn Williams with Cory Band.

  7. The Brigand's Orgy

    In his memoirs the composer wrote: 'I long to go to the mountains and put myself in the service of a brigand chief. That's the life I crave: volcanoes, rocks, rich piles of plunder in mountain caves, a concert of shrieks accompanied by an orchestra of pistols and carbines, blood and wine, a bed of lava rocked by subterranean tremors: voilà la vie!'

    The opening number in Cory Band's 2015 'Four Elements' themed Brass in Concert programme, this piece sets out a mysterious introduction transporting us back to the time of the Greek Philosophers, after which it presents short musical depictions of Fire, Air, Water and Earth. Designed to start your concert with a bang.

    Remember the impact of Riverdance? Well, Philip Harper has given the same treatment to this stunning arrangement he’s called Yule Dance. Featuring:  O Little Town of Bethlehem  In Dulci Jubilo  I Saw Three Ships  Sussex Carol As with Riverdance it develops into a spectacular climax. The one to finish the concert!

  12. Calon Lân

    Calon Lân is among the most popular of traditional Welsh melodies. This arrangement is simple but beautiful, beginning with a lone trombone voice, expanding to a trio, before the tenor horn is featured. After a heartfelt but brief climax, the trombone regains the spotlight and the music ends in peace and tranquility.
  13. Candlelight Carol

    John Rutter (b. 1945) has established a reputation as one of the most successful composers of modern-day carols, and the Candlelight Carol is one of the most popular. Written in 1984, this is a Nativity carol, and has been recorded by Glyn Williams on Cory Band's new Christmas CD release A Festival of Fanfares and Carols
