A stunning new concerto from Derek Bourgeois, commissioned and majestically performed by Tom Hutchinson and 2016 grand slam champions Cory Band.
Tom has just taken cornet playing to the next level with this new concerto from Derek Bourgeois. Movement 1 is a showcase of Toms dexterity and range of the instrument in a faultless display of lip flexibility. Movement 2 is where Tom displays his musicality, mid point of the movement he is dueting with Steve Stewart on soprano in the stratosphere of the cornet range making it sound easy. The final movement is in typical Bourgeois style and a tour deforce for the soloist culminating in a cadenza recapitulating the themes of the concerto which leaves you breathless.
In summary this is a must buy for any aspiring cornet player to listen to a true master of the instrument demonstrating a solo that most of us would say is unplayable. Well done Tom am literally amazed at this!
