Dream Catchers is written in the style of a youth band test piece with lots of jazz and funk influences. The idea behind the piece is that every young musician has a chance of 'catching' their dreams by performing to as high a standard as they can. In the first and last sections of Dream Catchers, the performers are required to use their technical ability with lots of intricate playing, whereas in the dream-like middle section they play with beauty and style.

Dream Catchers was composed for the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain and first performed by them in August 2007 at the Atrix Centre, Bromsgrove.
