Francis Lai is one of France's leading film music composers. His musical styles are very varied, ranging from contemporary jazz to classical. He is one of the pioneers in the creation of synthesiser sounds, samples and the use of 'computer' music. His film music has received awards from all over the world and in 1970 his score for Love Story secured him his only Oscar.

Bilitis is a coming of age story centring on the exploits of a young girl during a summer vacation. This expertly crafted arrangement for soprano cornet and brass band is of the film's main title theme.
