Yasuaki was born in Japan and started playing percussion when he was 15 years old. He gained a Psychology degree from Nihon University before studying percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music from where he graduated in June 2014.
Yasuaki is interested in expanding the repertoire for solo percussion with brass band accompaniment, commissioning works such as Battlefield and Marimba Concerto (David Danford), Antracite Dances (James McFadyen) and The Golden Apples of the Sun (Rodney Newton) all of which receive their premiere recordings on this album.
